Rabbi Shmuel Kamenetsky

Rabbi Shmuel Kamenetsky (born 1925) is an Orthodox rabbi and served as co-rosh yeshiva of the Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia for the past fifty years with Elya Svei until the latter's death in March, 2009. He continues to lead that yeshiva today (2010), and is one of the best-known living gedolim (Haredi Litvish Jewish religious leader) outside the land of Israel. He is the best-known son of the late Rabbi Yaakov Kamenetsky. He is a 'Gentleman among Gentlemen' whose vast Torah knowledge has earned him considerable renown. He is also known for his warm and friendly attitude towards people, gentle demeanor, and unusual modesty. Kamenetsky is a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudath Israel of America.
