The past few months in Israel have manifested sectarian violence of Jew against Jew, perpetrated by extremists within both the Religious Zionist and the Charedi communities. Such acts should cause each one of us to engage in cheshbon hanefesh (soul searching) to examine how we can powerfully avoid any trace of hatred, implied hatred, or disrespect, which have become too prevalent in our generation.
As members of the Orthodox Rabbinate in Atlanta, we wish to affirm the value of basic respect, shown even in cases where we might have important disagreements.
As a statement of such respect for each other and our congregations, we will be visiting each other's shuls for the special mincha of the fast day and sharing our thoughts on the theme of Ahavat Yisrael (love of fellow Jews)
